Less Damage

The Harmony CryoCare method of freezing overcomes many problems associated with conventional freezing, resulting in a frozen product that exhibits the following characteristics:

Optimised viability

  • Reduced mechanical damage to sperm by manipulation of ice crystal morphology (creation of needle-like structures)
  • Reduced glycerol concentration due to a reduced requirement for cryoprotection - less toxic to sperm
  • Reduced osmotic stress due to a faster freeze rate - tests have shown significant increases in hypo-osmotic resistance with Harmony CryoCare
  • Increased post-thaw sperm membrane integrity
  • Banking can become a real option for many individual animals and species with Harmony CryoCare where freezing has been unsuccessful with conventional technologies

Higher progressive linear motility

  • Harmony CryoCare’s ‘kinder’ freezing process increases the numbers of viable sperm recovered post-thaw
  • In addition, our exclusive technology has demonstrated significant increases in progressive linear motility
  • This is partly attributed to the directional alignment of the frozen sperm, and leads to increased conception rates compared to conventional freezing technologies

Increased conception rates

  • End results are the critical measure; Harmony CryoCare delivers
  • In addition, increased freezing volumes when using HollowTubes can lead to better uterine contraction and consequently further improvements in conception rates

  • Numerous studies have analysed the effects of using our multi thermal gradient directional freezing technology to improve results, for a selection of such references please click here
